What Are Tumble Pearls?

Tumble pearls are irregularly shaped pearls that are polished and smoothed, giving them a rounded, pebble-like appearance β€” similar to tumbled stones in crystal healing.

  • They still fall under the baroque pearl category, because they lack symmetry and are not perfectly round.
  • However, tumble pearls are more uniform in size and softer in contour compared to raw, highly asymmetrical baroque pearls.
  • Often used in layered necklaces, boho bracelets, and minimalist pearl jewelry.

Key Difference:

Baroque pearls are basically any irregular-shaped pearl. They are wild, abstract, or dramatic in form. Whereas, on the other hand, tumble pearls, are a subtype of baroque pearls. They are much smoother and more rounded β€” like soft pebbles.

So, some baroque pearls can be called Tumble pearls, but all tumble pearls can be called 100% baroque pearls. One of the examples of Tumble pearls is defined in the visual below.Β
